What are the EEP roles?

Insurance
This role contemplates the possibility to maintain a long-term ex situ population to preserve options for the future. The population within EAZA is managed to provide individuals for augmentation of populations (demographically and/or genetically)

Research in situ
There is need for research and support for research in country with focus on background information such as habitat, biology, and threats and to develop Best practice guidelines to tackle any issues with breeding.
