Why organise a campaign for tigers?

The tiger in danger

The charismatic tiger is seriously endangered in the wild. Currently only 5 of the formerly 8 subspecies remain. The tiger is a victim of powerful trends, both environmental and commercial. The relentless destruction of its habitat and the illegal trade in its body parts are driving the tiger ever closer to extinction.
Tiger parts, especially bones, are used
in traditional East Asian medicine.

World wide tiger population

Three entire populations of tiger have already been wiped out during the last century. The global population of tigers has fallen from 100,000 this time last century to around 5,000 today.
