EAZA Tiger Campaign 2002/4

This campaign is running in zoos throughout Europe in 2002/4 to raise money for wild tiger conservation. All projects supported by this campaign have been rigorously reviewed by a panel of international tiger conservationists to ensure they have sound and practical scientific and/or conservation value.

The Tiger in Danger

Tiger parts, especially bones, are used in Traditional East Asian Medicine.

The tiger is the victim of powerful trends, both environmental and commercial. The relentless destruction of its habitat and the illegal trade in its body parts are driving the tiger ever closer to extinction. Three entire populations of tiger have already been wiped out last century. The global population of tigers has fallen from 100,000 this time last century to around 5,000 today.
