EAZA Tiger Campaign 2002/4

Campaign efforts at Munster Zoo

Successful Tiger Days in the course of the 30th anniversary
During the first week of May, Munster Zoo celebrated its 30th anniversary at its 'new' site. All money raised during the miscellaneous festivities has been donated to charitable organisations on the one hand, and the EAZA Tiger Campaign on the other.

During the initial ceremonial act, a huge birthday cake was given to the visitors in return of a donation for the campaign, while children could get their faces painted as tigers and other wild animals. Furthermore, Leonard Lansink, a German actor in crime series set in Munster, read the musical story 'Peter and the Wolf' to the children. At the end of the anniversary week, well-known German entertainer Götz Alsmann presented a ramble through the zoo together with director Jörg Adler, themed 'Animal songs and animal stories'.

Along with transfers of donations following the presentation of campaign posters and leaflets, a total of €5,115 could be forwarded to 21st Century Tiger. Following this, Munster Zoo's Tiger Campaign activities have now raised a total of approximately € 10,875.
