Campaign efforts in Moscow Zoo
Tiger and Leopard Day
On 14 September 2002 Moscow Zoo held a 'Tiger and Leopard Day' during which the Russian EAZA Tiger Campaign was launched.
The guests of honour were Their Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, patrons of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.
The Prince and Princess watched children from the Moscow Zoo theatre department dance to lively Russian music dressed up in costumes of tigers and leopards. This special day at Moscow Zoo was organised by the zoo and the Anglo Russian charity AMUR. These two organisations work in partnership to raise financial support and to increase public awareness for the conservation work being done in the Russian Far East to save the highly endangered Amur tigers and leopards from extinction.
