EAZA Tiger Campaign 2002/4

Campaign efforts in Kristiansand Zoo

Kristiansand Zoo started a close collaboration with WWF including a common information series about tigers located just outside the new tiger enclosure.

The zoo has just started a major project to establish sponsorship for the EEP animals in our collection. The Siberian Tiger will be the first sponsored species in this project. A part of the money raised by sponsoring will be donated to the EAZA Tiger Campaign.

Special ‘Tiger Days' with lots of different family activities will take place. Foot prints produced by the first tigers to set foot in Norway will be sold to raise funds. An auction will be organised in connection with one of the Tiger Days. The income made by selling the tiger foot prints will go directly to the tiger projects. We also try to raise money by selling two thousand EAZA Tiger key rings in our tiger shop.

The zoo contacted a local newspaper to raise awareness and to further develop the idea of sending a press team to Siberia to write about one of the in situ projects and to take pictures of their efforts.
