EAZA Tiger Campaign 2002/4

Campaign efforts in Brno Zoo

Successful school competition at Brno Zoo
Brno Zoo officially opened the EAZA Tiger Campaign during its annual ‘Spring Opening’ on 22 March 2003. Information on the campaign and the problematic situation of tigers in the wild is provided on zoo notice boards as well as on an information board in the centre of Brno city. The visitors on ‘Spring Opening’ day could also participate in the competition ‘Tiger Path’, which was prepared by the Young Scientist Station of Brno Zoo.

A six-month competition for pupils 6 to 18 years old was initiated in March. The children can produce works in two sections: literature (stories and poems about tigers) and illustrations (drawings and paintings portraying tigers). The 103 submissions received so far are exhibited in a gallery in the pavilion of exotic birds. The competition winners will be awarded a special backstage programme on the tigers in Brno Zoo.
