EAZA Tiger Campaign 2002/4
Campaign efforts in Aalborg Zoo
Start campaign in Aalborg Zoo at Easter
Aalborg Zoo launched the EAZA Tiger Campaign during the
Easter holidays 2003. Two large tiger posters placed at the zoo
entrance introduce the campaign to zoo guests. A big tent was
put in front of the tiger enclosure in order to bring the tiger into
focus during the Easter holiday period. An education officer was
present at the tent every day, and visitors could also buy ‘tiger
cake’, tiger keyrings, pencils and posters. A quiz for children
about tigers was held, which proved to be very educational.
Posters on the wall of the inside tiger enclosure explain about
the threats to tigers in nature and about the campaign itself.
A ‘Touch Tiger Box’ with a money collection box is placed
near the enclosure. A tiger skin covering a tiger model has a
sensor which activates the sound of a tiger roar when someone’s
hand is put into one of the box holes.
Aalborg Zoo obtained sponsorship for printing 50,000 special
campaign leaflets shared between the Copenhagen, Odense and
Aalborg zoos. Also, the Aalborg Zoo’s van has been decorated
with tiger pictures to further promote the campaign.
