
Save the Rhinos,
the EAZA Rhino Campaign 2005/6
The need for money for in situ rhino conservation projects is enormous; Save the Rhinos received over fifty requests for support, totalling up to €2.6 million. Initially, thirteen projects were selected for first round 'Save the Rhinos' support and a further eight projects were selected for second round support.
To cover the whole range of rhino conservation, projects have been identified for all five species of rhino, in different range countries and focusing on different aspects (e.g. translocations, anti-poaching, monitoring, community-based conservation, environmental education or research).
