Education panels

An important aspect of all EAZA Conservation
Campaigns is the sharing of Campaign materials.
Also in the EAZA Rainforest Campaign, several
EAZA institutions have offered their
education panels to the EAZA membership.

Brazilian handicrafts

The pledging funds is just one example of support for the campaign. Other initiatives during the Rainforest Campaign were keeper exchanges and selling designated Brazilian handicrafts in zoo shops to support local communities. Hand-puppets made by the women on Superaguļ Island were sold for € 3.00 in support of the black-faced lion tamarin and the red-tailed amazon, endemic species in this region. If you are interested in selling these hand-puppets in your zoo shop or to your friends of the zoo organisation, please contact Bengt Holst (beh@zoo.dk). The puppets will be available on a first come-first served basis.

Spin euro's for the Atlantic rainforest!

The fundraising part of the Atlantic rainforest campaign has been in support of the four Lion Tamarin programmes through the contribution to the Lion Tamarins of Brazil Fund (LTBF). Several European zoos and the Dutch Federation of Zoos have raised funds for the development of corridors between the different forest fragments and the purchase of land in Brazil. The Dutch zoos have used a special collecting box for this purpose. You can find more information on this money spinner on www.angal.co.uk. With new stickers the same money spinners have also been used to collect funds for the EAZA Campaigns for tigers (2002/4) and turtles and tortoises (2004/5). Hopefully the money spinners will inspire the zoo visitors to contribute to these important campaigns.
