    Malagasy succulents
Madagascan succulents (water-storing plants) are beautiful ornamental plants and easy to care for. As live ambassadors of Madagascar, many of these plant species are under threat of extinction in their natural environment. In cooperation with experts on succulents and the Zurich Zoo, the Stadtgärtnerei Zürich set up a programme for the reproduction of these Madagascan succulents, under the supervision of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). All plants were reproduced and grown in Zurich, so no plants were taken from the island.

Registered EAZA Madagascar Campaign participants were able to order these plants and sell these to zoo visitors to raise funds for the campaign.
