Photo contest at La Palmyre Zoo
Visitors of La Palmyre Zoo (les-Mathes) were invited to take part in a lemur photo contest. For a €5 contribution participants could send in one photo.
The participants (children and adults) could compete in three different categories :
'snapshot' for pictures taken in the zoo with digital cameras;
'passion' for pictures taken in the zoo with single-lens reflex cameras;
'elsewhere' for pictures taken either in other zoos or in Madagascar with
all camera types.
A total of almost seventy pictures was received, mainly from adults. Visitors can now view the winning pictures at the Madagascar stand. The photos are also published on the zoo website. The pictures that obtained the first price in each category will be sent to EAZA at the end of the summer: they will take part in the selection of the thirty best pictures taken in the zoos that were involved in the Madagascar Campaign.
The second part of the campaign takes place on an information stand located between the Sclater's lemur (Eulemur macaco flavifrons) enclosure and the ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta) island. Opened six days a week between 11:00 a.m. and 6;00 p.m., many lemur products are sold at the stand. One of the products being Aïna, the renowned blue-eyed lemur mascot designed by students from a school in Mulhouse. Furthermore visitors can find t-shirts, key-rings, posters and a large choice of cuddly toys.
Our giant lemur moneybox is also a huge success!
