24 September: Official launch of the EAZA Bushmeat Campaign during the EAZA Annual Conference in Aalborg, Denmark

2001
23 September: Official closure of the petition-part of the EAZA Bushmeat Campaign
5 November: Petitions from all over Europe arrive in Brussels
6 November: Bushmeat Hearing "Planets of the Apes" in Brussels and handing over of 1.9 million petitions to the EU Parliament
8 November: 1.9 million petition are symbolically handed over to the EU Development Ministers in Brussels

24 January: Handing over of 1.9 million
petitions to the EP Committee
on Petitions

2003
22 January:Reply of the EP Committee on Petitions to the demands put forward in the EAZA Bushmeat petition

2004
13 January: The European Parliament discussed the report on EAZA's petition 461/2000 concerning the protection and conservation of Great Apes and other species endangered by the illegal trade in bushmeat.
14 January: European Parliament approves EAZA Bushmeat demands. A majority of the European Parliament voted in favour of adopting the report. For more information please refer to the press release.
10 December:Bushmeat Steering Group formulated and submitted, upon request of Proinsias de Rossa, feedback on the comments made by the Commission on the Resolution.
