New Year Leapfrog in Moscow
On 31 December 2007 visitors at Moscow Zoo participated in the New Year Leapfrog event to launch the Year of the Frog. Because of the typical Russian winter weather (cold and dark but luckily without snow), not many people were in the zoo but there were some children with their parents. Some of them brought posters or flags and some of them put on masques or just green pieces of clothes to look like frogs.
The zoo itself had also prepared some frog-costumes for kids and there were traditional characters of the New Year feast; Father Frost and Snowmaid. Princess Frog was also present and she asked visitors questions about amphibians and played games with the kids.
Although the campaign at Moscow Zoo has been launched through this event, another big launch will take place in April 2008.
