Colchester Zoo visitors take part in a Frog Finders Trail
In the Easter holidays, Colchester Zoo's visitors took part in a Frog Finders Trail around the zoo site and had the chance to win a special reptile or mammal experience! Lily pad-shaped interpretation posters were put up at ten different enclosures around the zoo, each featuring a different frog or toad species, ranging from the Javan flying frog to the Midwife Toad. Once our visitors had located the lily pads on the enclosures, they had to work out whether the featured frog or toad was poisonous as suggested by its bright warning colours, or non-poisonous using camouflage to evade predation. Our visitors were charged 50p to enter the trail and all money went towards Colchester Zoo's pledged contribution to Amphibian Alarm.

All correct entries were entered into a prize draw to win an exclusive 'one-hour close encounter' with either Colchester Zoo's reptiles or small mammals. In total, we had nearly hundred entries into the trail.

This Frog Finders Trail helped to complement other Easter activities throughout the holiday period including frog origami on the education stall, the sale of frog merchandise around the zoo and the promotion of the campaign in our Wild about Animals Theatre. In total, over £2,000 was raised for Amphibian Alarm throughout the three weeks of Easter activities.
