EAZA Academy

EAZA is committed to enhancing the professionalism of its member institutions through training opportunities. In the longer term it is planned to run, or facilitate the running of, a wide range of training courses under the banner of the EAZA Academy. At present the Academy exists in the form of the Basic and Advanced Breeding Programme Management courses.

Breeding Programme Management Courses

EAZA's breeding programmes are essential to ensuring that we have sustainable populations of species kept in zoos, including endangered species and species that are important for educational purposes. Each year the EAZA Executive Office organises training courses to help improve the running of our more than 340 breeding programmes. The courses offer an opportunity for those coordinating the EEPs (European Endangered speices Programmes) and keepers of ESBs (European Studbooks) to gain a deeper understanding of the genetics and demographics of the breeding programmes.

For more information about the Breeding Programme Management Courses or to enquire about the possibility of your institution hosting a course, please contact William van Lint (william.van.lint[at]eaza.net).
