Training and exchange
Together, the approximately 275 EAZA zoos and aquaria have an immense amount of knowledge and experience on a variety of zoo management topics. The EAZA Committee on Technical Assistance and Animal Welfare stimulates the exchange of knowledge and expertise between EAZA members and with the candidates for EAZA membership.
As the Committee's primary goal is assisting zoos and aquaria in the Eastern European region reaching EAZA standards, the committee has set up a training scheme for this region.
To nominate colleagues for training Eastern European zoos can contact the EAZA Executive Office for an application form.
Training topics can vary from animal husbandry and collection planning to education, and from general zoo management to marketing and fundraising. This enables talented zoo staff to experience how a 21st century zoo is operated in other European zoological institutions.
Based on the registration forms the EAZA Executive Office will try to find a suitable training institution in close cooperation with the Technical Assistance and Animal Welfare Committee. For more information please contact Martijn Los (martijn.los@eaza.net) at the EAZA Executive Office.
