Antwerp Zoo and the Zoo of Love

Antwerp Zoo recently celebrated the launch of tv series ZOO OF LOVE. 10 episodes, 10 animals threatened, 10 trips in situ, 10 ambassador couples, 10 stories merging science and emotion. It was broadcast on Belgium's prime public broadcasting network (which is market leader in Belgium) on Saturday evening and so far has practically controlled the evening in terms of market leadership in viewings - Up to 33% and 770,000 people.

The penguin, the okapi, the African great apes, amphibians, the eurasian black vulture, the Asian elephant, the zebra, the stork, the giraffe and the golden-headed lion tamarin - all species that are currently seriously threatened with extinction.

Each episode started off at the zoo where we meet this week's duo and learn about their favorite animal. Not only do they get an exclusive look behind the scenes of the animal park they frequently visit but after that they even get to travel abroad to explore the natural habitat of the creatures they love so much. They sit down in a real gorilla's nest in Cameroon or actually fly together with storks in Israel. They come face to face with a herd of elephants in India, feed cadavers to black vultures in Mallorca or join the Pygmies in Congo on ther mission to find and remove okapi-traps.

ZOO OF LOVE is a factual reality show that uses real, authentic and emotional human stories about people who love animals brought together by the global social relevance of biodiversity.
